William Clark on the exaggeration of fears related to bioterrorism. Dr. Clark is Professor and Chair Emeritus of Immunology at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is an internationally recognized authority on the killer T lymphocytes involved in organ transplant rejection and in viral immunity. He has written extensively on topics in science and medicine for the general public, including "In Defense of Self: How the Immune System Really Works," "Sex and the Origins of Death," "A Means to an End: the Biological Basis of Aging and Death" and "Are We Hardwired?: the Biological Basis of Aging and Death." His new book, published last week, is "Bracing for Armageddon?: the Science and Politics of Bioterrorism in America."
