Iran's Ahmadinejad Predicts Destruction Of US, Israel

RTTNews - Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that Israel will disappear from the world map soon and that the "satanic power" of the United States faced destruction, reported Iran's IRNA news agency.

"You should know that the criminal and terrorist Zionist regime which has 60 years of plundering, aggression and crimes in its file has reached the end of its work and will soon disappear off the geographical scene," IRNA quoted Ahmadinejad as saying on Monday. "The bell on the countdown of the destruction of the empire of power and wealth has begun to ring," Ahmadinejad added, referring to the US. According to the IRNA report President Ahmadinejad made the remarks at a ceremony honoring the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Ahmadinejad has been very vocal in his criticisms of Israel and the US and had stirred up an international controversy in 2005 after calling to "wipe Israel off the map". Later on Monday, the White House responded to the Iranian president's remarks by saying that such comments will only serve in isolating the Iranian people further.

"It's that kind of rhetoric that just serves to further isolate the Iranian people," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said. "We'll let him go on and be bombastic if he wants, and ignore him."

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that the era of use of force and that of bullying powers has ended. He made the remarks while addressing a group of foreign guests taking part in the ceremony commemorating 19th anniversary of the late Imam Khomeini's demise. Underlining the need for unity and solidarity of the Muslim World, he said all satanic powers will be eliminated through unity of Muslims and vigilance of the Islamic Ummah. As to the Israeli atrocity in the occupied lands, Ahmadinejad said the criminal regime which has been plundering the wealth of the oppressed Palestinian nation and has been murdering innocent people in the past 60 years, "has reached its end and will disappear from the scene". On the latest developments in Lebanon, he said the small country which was under the rule of big powers and Israel, has now turned to a power defeating the US and the Zionist regime. The president stressed that the resistance of the Lebanese nation prevented the enemies from carrying out their conspiracies in that country, he added.
